Hypnosis for Relaxation
This is the course I took. Quite fun.
A = Hypnotherapist
B = Client
A: I understand that you want to be able to feel relaxed. In the next moment, I would like to be able to guide you into a state of trance. In the process, I will be touching you on your forehead; this is to help you to anchor the state in. At any point of time if you feel uncomfortable, feel free to break out of the trance. Remember, you are the one in control. Are you ready to begin?
B: Yes.
A: Okay. Now, as a start, I want you to be able to be conscious of your breathing. I want you to breath in and out comfortably. As you breathe in, you will feel your muscles starting to release the tension in them. And as you breathe out, the breath will carry with it the tension, out of your body.
B: (Breathes in and out)
A: (Match and mirror) On the third breath (pacing and leading), I want you to slowly feel your body softening. As you breathe in and out, you might want to place your focus on your shoulder and feel the tension slowly releasing itself from your shoulder. As the muscles in your shoulder loosen itself, the neck muscles will begin to follow. Some people have said before that there is a knot at the neck there and moving it a bit helps to soften the muscles there. You might want to move your head a bit and feel the softening of that knot.
B: (May or may not move his/her head)
A: As you breathe in and out (returning the attention to the breathing helps to distract the conscious mind), release the tension on your forehead, your cheeks and your jaw. Slowly feel the muscles softening and the relaxation cascade down towards your shoulder. Softening the muscles as it cascade down. (Calibrate the client)
A: As the feeling of relaxation spreads towards, your chest, your back and your stomach, feel that feeling of letting go. Let the chair that you are sitting in supports you fully. You might want to shift your body so that the chair can support you fully. You will feel as though you have sink into the chair, melting in. As the sensation of relaxation spreads, your legs, your calves, your feet will feel comfortable. You may shift them a bit to let them feel the relaxation and the comfort.
A: (Calibrate for full relaxation and Anchor) As I slowly press upon your forehead, lock in this feeling of relaxation. (Touch forehead) Releases your body fully, let the feeling of relaxation sets in. Lock it in. (Slowly release hand)
B: (Feeling of relaxation is integrated)
A: As I count to 3, I want you to bring this feeling of relaxation with you. Let it come back with you. 3. Slowly feel the air around your body and as you breathe it in. 2. You are now aware of the surrounding sounds. 1. Once you are ready, you may slowly open your eyes. Welcome back.
